Public Seminar: African Art and Fieldwork (The 182nd Research Meeting of the Society for Arts and Anthropology)

The 182nd Research Meeting of the Society for Arts and Anthropology will be jointly hosted by ILCAA (Research Institute for Languages and Cultures of Asia and Africa) and TUFiSCo (Tokyo University of Foreign Studies Field Science Commons). The seminar features presentations by emerging scholars conducting research on African art--a field that has attracted growing attention in Japan in recent years. Drawing on their fieldwork, the speakers will present new perspectives and findings from their research. We are also delighted to welcome Yukiya Kawaguchi, a pioneer of contemporary African art studies in Japan, as the discussant. The event is open to all, and membership in the Society for Arts and Anthropology is not required.
