A public book review of The Aid That Hurts: How Inequality Breeds Scams, Conspiracy, and the Struggle for Dignity
(Yuka Tomomatsu, Iwanami Shoten, 2025) will take place near Kyoto Station. 

Author Yuka Tomomatsu, with commentators Noriko Tahara and Misa Hirano, will discuss the book from perspectives of cultural and economic anthropology, sociology, and African studies. 

The event welcomes students, the public, and anyone interested in Africa's rural economy, international cooperation, and the lives of young people and women.

This event is part of the ILCAA Joint Research Project
"Taking on the challenges: An anthropological study of adventurous practices in contemporary Africa" (jrp000309).
